How do I sign up for Clarity Books AI?
Head to /pricing, pick the plan that fits your business, and click "Start free." We'll ask for your email, business name, and business type (freelancer, contractor, e-commerce, etc.). The first 14 days are free and you can cancel any time without entering a card.
ARTICLE 02
What information do I need ready before I start?
Three things: (1) the email address you want to use as your login, (2) your business name and the type of work you do, and (3) the login credentials for your business bank account so you can connect it via Plaid. That's it — no Social Security Number, no EIN, no tax forms required to get going.
ARTICLE 03
How do I connect my first bank account?
After signing up, you'll land on a setup wizard. Click "Connect bank" → search for your institution → log in inside the secure Plaid popup → select the accounts you want to track. We typically pull in the last 24 months of transactions automatically. The first import takes 30–90 seconds depending on volume.
ARTICLE 04
What is a chart of accounts and do I need to set one up?
A chart of accounts is the list of categories the AI uses to sort your transactions (Office Supplies, Software, Meals, etc.). We auto-populate one based on your business type when you sign up. You don't need to do anything — but if you want to add custom categories or rename existing ones, head to Chart of Accounts in the sidebar.
ARTICLE 05
How long until the AI starts auto-categorizing?
Immediately. As soon as your first transactions import, Claude reads each one and either categorizes it (confidence ≥ 90) or flags it for SMS confirmation tonight. The more you use it, the smarter it gets — by week two, most clients see 85%+ auto-categorization rates.
ARTICLE 06
Can I import historical transactions from before I signed up?
Yes. Plaid pulls 24 months of history by default. If you need older data — say, for a multi-year cleanup — you can upload a CSV from your bank under Banking → Import CSV. The AI will categorize historical transactions the same way it does live ones.
ARTICLE 07
I'm switching from QuickBooks / Xero / Wave. What do I do?
Export a transaction CSV from your old tool covering the period you want to migrate. Connect your bank in Clarity Books, then upload the CSV under Banking → Import CSV. The AI will reconcile against incoming Plaid data so you don't end up with duplicates. If you get stuck, email brayden@claritybooksai.com and I'll walk you through it.

How do I invite my CPA or accountant?
Currently we don't have multi-user accounts (the product is built around the owner managing their own books, with the AI doing the heavy lifting). At year-end, you can generate a Year-End Packet under Reports → Year-End that bundles everything your CPA needs into a single PDF + spreadsheet. They don't need a login.
